VSDC is also well-known for it's light yet powerful functionality. Personally, I use this software, and I'm amazed at how lightweight this is while offering so many options. The software is also more intuitive than that of Resolve. It usually lacks more text options but, video and sound effects wise, it offers a wide range of it. Despite the fact that the workspace is a bit dull, for some people it might not be a problem. 

The only cons of this program is the lacking text option and a dull workspace, other than that if you are looking for a light editing software to get your job done, then you must check out this program.

3)SHOTCUT



If you are a beginner, and you are looking for a lightweight program with intuitive workspace, then Shotcut might be for you. With a similar interface as the Resolve, Shotcut is a well-known program amongst beginners. This program is fast, efficient and easy to use. Although this is not recommended for amateurs and professionals, it's highly recommended for beginners. For light video editing; and in some cases heavy video editing, I fully recommend this program.

Although there is an abundance of free editing softwares, the above-mentioned will get you going without any mishaps. For heavy editing and color grading, DaVinci Resolve is the best and if you are looking for a lighter version to do heavy as well as light editing VSDC is the best.
